Set up for your trade
Set up CalMov for car detailing
By the end, customers choose their vehicle size and interior condition and see the time and price, you know about parking, power and water before you arrive, and each job has a report.
Which plan
Free on Lite: Vehicle profiles, one time & price question per service (or two combined into one table), the form after booking, the Job report with a job timer and your notes, Site & access and Rebooking reminders. Pro adds photos, the job checklist, the report you send the customer, "We'll review it" and up to 10 time & price questions per service. Lite has up to 2 active services.
Your setup, step by step
Step 1: Switch on the car detailer tools
Open Toolkit and check Car detailer is picked under "Your trade". Press "Back to car detailer defaults" to switch on Vehicle profiles, Time & price questions, Forms after booking, Job report, Site & access and Rebooking reminders, plus Photos if you're on Pro. Every other tool goes off, and nothing is deleted.
Switching a tool on in Toolkit and following Set it up. Recorded with example data. Step 2: Price by vehicle size
Go to Booking page › Questions and, under "Suggested for car detailing", press "Vehicle size". For Full valet, Exterior wash and Interior clean, fill in "+ Minutes" and "+ Price" for Small, Saloon or hatchback, SUV or estate and Van or 7-seater, for example SUV or estate: +30 min, +15 on the price. Press "Add question".
Adding a question whose answers change the time and price. Recorded with example data. Step 3: Add interior condition (Pro)
On Pro, press "Interior condition" and, under "Changes the time or price of", keep Full valet and Interior clean only. Set what Maintained, Moderate and Heavy add, for example Moderate: +30 min, +15 on the price. Set "Then" for Heavy to "We'll review it" if you'd rather quote those jobs yourself.
Step 4: Or combine size and condition in one table
A service on Lite has one time & price question, or two combined into a table. To combine, add "Interior condition" with "The answer changes the time or price" switched off, then press Edit on "Vehicle size" and choose it under "Combine with". Both questions must be asked for the same services, and each pair of answers then sets the time and price, replacing what you entered in step 2.
Combining two questions into a table of times and prices. Recorded with example data. Step 5: Add make and model, and where the car will be
Add "Make and model", which is asked when booking and remembered for each vehicle, so returning customers pick their car instead of typing it again. Add "Where will the vehicle be?" too. It goes in the form sent with the confirmation and is asked fresh for every booking.
Step 6: Ask about parking, power and water
On the same page, find "Site & access" and press "Parking", "Power", "Water", "Space to work" or "Door or key code" for each one you need. Customers answer in the form after booking, and the answers are saved to the address for next time.
Step 7: Say when a coating is ready
If you offer coatings, open that service in Services and find "How it's booked", then "Ready after the visit". Enter the minutes in "Ready after (min)", for example 720 for 12 hours, and fill in "What customers are told". Press "Save".
Step 8: Set the checklist and photos (Pro)
In Toolkit, under Job report, press "Edit the job checklist", which starts as Walk round and note any damage, Interior, Exterior, Final check with the customer. In job mode, take "Before" photos on the walk round and "After" photos at the end, up to 12 a job. After "Finish job", press "Send report" to email the customer a message and the photos you choose.
Sending the customer a report with photos. Recorded with example data. Step 9: Set rebooking and try your page
In Services, "Remind customers to rebook after (weeks)" is filled with 6 for car detailers, and you can change it per service. Then press "View booking page" in Booking page › Questions, start a test Full valet and pick a vehicle size to see the time and price change.
How different trades use it
- Maintenance valets
- Leave Maintained adding nothing, and set a shorter rebooking time, such as 4 weeks, on the service your regulars use.
- Coatings and paint correction
- On Pro, set the service to "Approve first" under "How it's booked", and use "Ready after the visit" so customers know when the car is ready.
- Vans and fleets
- Let "Van or 7-seater" add the most time. A customer with several vans saves each one as its own vehicle profile.
Common questions
What if the car is in a worse state than the customer said?
Under "How it's booked" in Services, choose "Book straight away, as an estimate", so the customer sees an "About" time from their answers. The booking is made at that time and price, so if a job needs longer, reschedule it to a time that fits. In job mode you can note what delayed the job, and it's saved in the Job report, and on Pro "Approve first" lets you set the length and price before confirming.
Can I quote very dirty cars myself?
On Pro, set Heavy to "We'll review it". The customer sends a request, the time is held, and you confirm, change the time or price, ask a question or decline. On Lite, set it to "Can't book online" and the customer is told to get in touch.
How do I know there's power and water before I travel?
Add the "Power" and "Water" questions under Site & access. Customers answer in the form after booking, which is due a day before the visit and sends up to two reminders. The answers are saved to the address for next time.
Can a customer book more than one car?
Yes. Each car is saved as its own vehicle profile with its own size and make and model, and returning customers pick the car instead of typing it again.
How long are photos kept?
For 2 years, with up to 12 photos a job. Photos and the report to the customer are on Pro.
