Problems CalMov solves

How do I stop customers booking visits too close together?

Customers end up booking visits too close together when your booking page doesn't know where each visit is. Ask for the address before the time, and only offer times that leave room for the drive from the visit before and on to the visit after. A fixed gap after every booking works too, as long as it covers your longest usual drive.

Why a normal booking page gets this wrong

Most booking pages treat the end of one appointment as the start of the next free time. That works for a salon chair. When every visit is at a different address, the time between visits is also driving, parking and getting in the door.

There are two ways to protect that time. A fixed gap leaves the same amount of time after every booking, whatever the distance. A drive time check works out the journey between the actual addresses, so a neighbour can be booked straight after and a visit across town gets the time it needs.

A worked example

Two customers and one free hour

  1. 1. Your 10:00 visit lasts an hour and finishes at 11:00. The next customer is 9 miles away.
  2. 2. The drive takes about 25 minutes at that time of day, and you allow 10 minutes for parking.
  3. 3. A booking page with no travel time would offer 11:00. With a drive time check, the earliest start is 11:35, so the first time offered is the next start time after that.
  4. 4. A fixed 30 minute gap would offer 11:30: 5 minutes too early for this journey, and 25 minutes longer than a customer on the next street needs.

What to set in CalMov

The address comes first

On every plan, customers enter the visit address before they choose a service and a time.

Lite: a fixed gap you set

Set Extra travel time (min) in Hours & availability, in the Travel tab. On Lite, CalMov leaves that gap between bookings instead of a drive time, so set it for your longest usual drive.

Pro: drive times with expected traffic

Pro works out the road journey before and after each visit for the time it would happen, adds your extra travel time, and checks the journey again before the booking is confirmed.

No gaps too short to fill

On every plan, tick Hide times that leave short gaps so customers aren't offered a time that would leave an unusable gap next to another booking.

Who this is for

Any one-person business that goes to the customer, where the time between visits is spent driving.

Frequently asked questions

How much time should I leave between home visits?

Enough for the drive, parking and getting in. With a fixed gap, base it on your longest usual journey rather than your average. With drive times worked out for each booking, neighbours can be booked close together and longer journeys keep the time they need.

Can customers still book visits back to back?

Yes, when the next address is close. On Pro, two visits on the same street only need the short drive between them and your extra travel time.

Does CalMov plan my route for the day?

No. It checks that each new booking fits with the journey before and after it. It doesn't reorder the visits you already have.
